Sony Alpha 77 D-SLR Review

Sony Alpha 77 is the successor to the semi-professional D-SLR Alpha 700, which debuted on the market in September 2007. In recent years the approach of the Japanese company to manufacture cameras, however, greatly changed, and new construction so far have not already resembles his highly regarded predecessor. Sony Alpha 77 uses for technology, property, semi-permeable mirror (Translucent Mirror), which Sony started to use in its camera models from Alfa 33 and Alfa 55th.

“Rigid” mirror is the most important, but not the only one of the innovations which have been applied in the new Sony camera. SLR has a 24.3 megapixel APS HD CMOS sensor, working under the control of the Bionz image processor and an impressive 19-point AF with 11 cross points. Impressed also feature shooting, acting on the basis of the detection phase. This mode – as provided by the manufacturer – is the fastest in the world and allows you to capture up to 12 frames / sec.

Sony Alpha 77, for a camera with mirror befitting semi-permeable, has only a digital viewfinder. Crop can also flip through the LCD, whose position can be adjusted in three points. It could also miss recording feature films – SLR can record Full HD video encoded in progressive format AVCHD 50p or 25p. During the filming is available fast autofocus and a full set of manual exposure modes. Interesting is also a built-in GPS receiver, which allows automatic geotagging of photos and video clips.

Sony Alpha 77 – a new vision of professional SLR Review and Test

Construction

Sony Alpha 77 is a very solid construction and durable. The camera body is made of durable magnesium alloy and equipped with a seal that protects against dirt and moisture. The professional fate like a solid camera size and weight SLR – “box” measures 142.6 x 104 x 80.9 mm and its weight (without battery and memory card) is a good 653 grams. A nod to the professionals is also a large number of control buttons (the most important adjustment can be made without having to dig into the menu) and camera equipment in the secondary display function, placed on top grip.

From the front, left side, is the focus mode dial (you have to use it when using optics does not have its own switch AF / MF), the lens release button and built-in flash head down. On the other hand – next to the grip – provided the depth of field preview button.

Most of the buttons at the top of the body was placed at gripie. In addition to the aforementioned secondary screen are the key highlights, switch the viewfinder / LCD screen and buttons for shutter mode, white balance, exposure correction and sensitivity. Right next to – in the traditional location – is the shutter release with the power switch, a little farther – the front control knob. On the opposite side of the upper panel – to the left of the hot shoe – find the mode dial to the camera.

The greatest concentration of the control buttons located on the back wall of the body. To the left of the viewfinder at mieszczono Although only the menu key, but on the other side we find: movie recording button, AEL exposure lock button (which is interesting as it corresponds to a synchronization mode with slow shutter), the fast switching the focus mode – AF / MF and rear control dial. The following is the: Switch navigation, DISP (display information on screen), pop-up menu Fn key and click the “intelligent tele” which allows you to zoom in the middle of the frame. Long list of controls close two more keys – view and delete images. The latter – here another curiosity – also runs a help function.

Sony camera has a rich set of connectors, located on the left side of the body. There are: external flash connector, cable release input, microphone jack, power input, USB and HDMI. Connectors have been hidden under the solid, well spasowanymi thongs, made of plastic aesthetic. Between them there is a built-in GPS.

On the opposite side of the housing (right side) is a dual memory card slot that supports SD / SDHC / SDXC and Memory Stick. Below, at the base grip, placed the traditional battery compartment.

The camera, as already mentioned, is made very solid. SLR probably also lies in the hands and allows easy framing and control buttons generally allows for comfortable handling. Tight distribution of certain keys (especially on the back wall of the body), however, can sometimes lead to an accidental launch of functions that we do not just intend to use.
